I joined writer and filmmaker John Rogers (Waltham Forest’s Psychogeographer-in-Residence) for a walk along the River Ching.
Epping Forest is a sprawling ancient woodland with many legends and folktales attached, but it also has a legacy of providing people with a safe place, of sanctuary and escape. This is the third in a series of blogs exploring the history of Epping Forest.
Excited to be part of this epic project, composed and realised by James Bulley and Daniel Jones. You can hear it in Epping Forest 20-28 July as part of Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture programme, The People’s Forest.
The story of how Epping Forest was saved is a complex campaign involving ancient laws and modern politicians, well-connected socialists, corporations, early conservationists and working-class activism.
